I am a singer and keyboard player, and my most recent project with my bandmate Brian Cremins is the soundtrack to Gene Kannenberg Jr.’s abstract graphic novella Qodèxx. (You can read more about the project in my Qodèxx Recording Diary.)
As a kid, I was carrying bags of extension cords to my dad’s band’s gigs as soon as I was more or less mobile, and in the years since, I’ve performed in musicals and musical revues, in pit bands, with choirs, with jazz combos, and as the frontwoman for rock groups. I’ve performed at such iconic venues in Chicago as the Double Door, the Green Mill, Martyrs’, Schubas, the Laugh Factory, as well as on legendary kiddie dance show Chic-a-Go-Go.
Here’s a streamable selection of the work I’ve done with bands Pet Theories and Tiny Magnets and at the Bloom School of Jazz:
And here’s some footage of me singing a sad-bastard version of the classic Dion song “Runaround Sue”:
Some of my favorite singers include Jackie Cain, Björk, Laura Veirs, Sammy Davis Jr., Mark Eitzel, and Scott Walker.
