I’ll Follow You: A Christmas Passage from Paul Weston’s Book Atargatis

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Rather than release a normal interview episode today, I thought I’d just put a little audio trinket in your stocking, so to speak.

I’d like to read you a short selection from a book called Atargatis, which is by the English writer, lecturer, hypnotherapist, and Reiki Master Paul Weston

I first read the book sometime back in 2018 and really immediately responded to the delicacy and honesty of this section, so much so that I was moved to post a video of myself reading it on my personal Facebook page on Christmas Day that year. It just felt nice to have a new Christmas reading that was a contemporary alternative to the familiar texts we’ve all grown up with, that both honors the reality of attending holiday gatherings where there might be a TV blaring in the background but that also retains a sense of the mystical qualities of the season as well. So, I wanted to take this new tradition of mine to the next level with a slightly nicer audio recording, featuring a lovely original musical accompaniment here by Brian Cremins.

(You can stream the episode via the embed here or pretty much anywhere else you source your podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, and Google Podcasts.)

Paul Weston’s website can be found here.

More information about the book Atargatis is available here. You can read a sample or purchase a copy here.

This recording is also my own way of paying tribute to Celestial Navigations‘ audio narrative “The Train,” which my family deeply loved and listened to annually after we first discovered it in the late ’80s/early ’90s.
