I don’t know how true or verifiable this is, but my dad used to tell a story about someone who won a poetry contest in a local magazine or newspaper just by sending in the word “lighght.” I guess all the other poets who submitted were angry because they’d written longer and more complex works and felt like this was unfair. But my dad, who loved wordplay, loved the innovation of that double-gh and the way he felt that it did truly imply lightness of hue, of touch, of weight, of sound.
