At last, Paul’s cremated remains have finally been delivered to Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland, Indiana. I am in the process of scheduling the memorial service with them now. Stay tuned for more information about the time and date. I hope to be able to make the announcement very soon.

I genuinely wish I had more news to share with you all. Thank you so much for continuing to check in here and for using this page as a resource for the most up-to-date information.
We’re still waiting for the cremation to happen in California. The funeral home in Indiana understandably will not let us pick the date for the memorial until the cremation is finished. This makes total sense; I’m not complaining. I certainly wouldn’t want to pick a date for the service in Highland and then have to reschedule it at the last minute if the remains happened to still not be ready yet.
As far as the reason for the delay with the cremation, I’m not sure if it’s due to the toxicology report not being finished yet or if it’s a backup with other cremations at the mortuary. (Could be a combination of both.)
I know we’re all eager to join together to grieve Paul’s loss and celebrate our memories of his life. I just have to have faith for now that the timing will eventually line up in the best possible way, despite my wish that the whole process were moving a little bit faster. Thank you for your patience as well.

We’re still waiting on the cremation. No other news at the moment.

Thank you again to everyone for your deep care for Paul and the rest of our family. Now that the autopsy has been done, the latest update from the mortuary in Oakland is that the cremation should happen some time this coming week. Which means that we should be able to confirm a time for a service in Indiana hopefully soon thereafter. Paul’s memorial, whenever it is finally scheduled, will be at Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland, the same facility where both our parents’ services were held.

For those of you who knew Paul and want to leave a tribute, I would ask you to do so on my personal Facebook page (or on his obituary when it becomes available) rather than on his Facebook page, as I intend to have it taken down. He had been posting some disturbing and erratic messages there for the past year, and I would prefer for that space not to become a permanent record of his struggles. Thank you for understanding.

I have sad news to share with you all: Paul Felus has passed away.
He had been living in Oakland, California, for over a decade, and I received word from their police department late the evening of July 5. They had gained entry to his apartment and found his body there. There was some physical decomposition happening, so it’s clear he’d been gone for several days already. (My own personal best guess is that it would have happened sometime on June 20, which is the last time that my iPhone confirmed that Paul had seen/read any text messages from me.)
The next step will be an autopsy to definitively confirm the cause of death. I have been in touch with the Coroner’s Bureau in Oakland, California, and they say it may take a week (or even longer) to do the examinations and generate a toxicology report. After that, his body can be released to a mortuary and we can begin making plans for a service back home in Northwest Indiana.
I will attempt to keep this page updated as a main repository of information until services are publicly announced. Please feel free to share this link with others who may want to know.
Thank you for all the love and care you’ve shown Paul over the years.
